High Schools

High Schools:

High schools are the institutions that provides all or a part of secondary education to children. Secondary education is the final stage of compulsory education, the next stage of which is college education. Thus most of the high schools provides highly focused college preparatory curriculum that prepares students to get admission in prestigious colleges or universities.

Grades:

High schools educate students in grades 9 through to grade 12. Some states in USA divides grades 9-10 in high school and grades 11-12 in senior high school.

Types of high schools:

High schools can be divided in three classes that are:

- Vocational high schools:

These are the high schools that provide efficient training to those students that want to go into trade directly rather than joining a college. These are sometimes also referred as alternative high schools.

- College preparatory high schools:

College preparatory high schools provide focused and rigorous education to its students which prepare them to clear the entrance exams of prestigious college or universities. These high schools also provide various advanced placement courses in various disciplines.

- Alternative high schools:

These are the high schools that provide education to the students who are unable to perform well in traditional school settings. These are the students with some mental health difficulties. Some alternative high schools also provide education to teens that are facing some form of teenage problems.

Costs and expenses of high schools:

Fee and other expenses of a high school may range from $1,500 to $3,000 based on the facilities provided by high school or the fact whether it is boarding high school or not. Different high schools charge different amount.

Choosing a good high school:

Parents must choose a best suited high school for their teens. Although the name and history of a high school is an important factor, but there are other factors also that must not be ignored. Some of these factors are location of high school, child’s educational needs, future planning etc. Advice of a good educational advisor is useful in such cases.
